RACINE — SC Johnson, a maker of consumer household cleaning, pest control and food storage products, announced Wednesday that it is eliminating 300 to 400 jobs globally, some of which are local positions, in a company restructuring plan.

SC Johnson, a family-owned company, declined to say how many local positions are being eliminated. Kelly Semrau, senior vice president of global corporate affairs and communication sustainability, said in a released statement that the jobs are being cut because the company is undergoing an organizational change.

Semrau said the company is healthy and the brands continue to be leaders in their categories. Semrau said the company is undergoing the restructuring to maintain its health and leadership.

Local operations include the SC Johnson world headquarters campus at 1525 Howe St. in Racine, its entomology research center at 101 Four Mile Rd. and Waxdale and the company’s manufacturing facility at 8311 16th St. along Willow Road in Mount Pleasant.
