Those were some of the words offered by people facing cancer during Friday’s Relay for Life fundraiser for cancer research.
More than 1,000 patients, caregivers and medical professionals were set to participate in the 12-hour walk at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s outdoor track.
“Kenosha has been No. 1 in the Midwest for the past six years, so that’s something they hold near and dear to their hearts because they raise so much money,” said American Cancer Society staffer Andrea Raykovich, who helped organize the 22nd annual event. “It’s a way to recognize the survivors, and it’s a way to honor those who have passed.”
This year’s goal: $300,000.
