The day before Christopher Ealey, jailed since March 2017 on a drug charge, was scheduled to be sentenced for possession of narcotics, he was hit with another charge — first-degree reckless homicide.

Ealey, 29, was charged March 21, 2017, with possession of narcotics and other drug-related charges and has been held in Kenosha County Jail on $5,000 bond ever since. He pleaded guilty to the narcotics felony in November and is to be sentenced today.

But throughout the court process for those charges, prosecutors have warned that other charges were pending. On Wednesday, he was charged for the Feb. 6, 2017, death of Kenosha resident David Lerdahl. Lerdahl, 35, died of an overdose of heroin and cocaine.
