At about midnight on April 25, a Kenosha family heard footsteps on the stairs leading to their second-floor apartment, then heard a knock on the door.
A man outside the door called out the name of a 25-year-old man who lived in the apartment with his parents. When the 25-year-old’s father opened the door enough to see out, the chain latch on the door still in place, two men burst inside shouting, “Everybody get down,” according to a criminal complaint filed Monday afternoon.
When police were called after the two men had fled the apartment, they found the 25-year-old with a gash to his head and his shirt covered in blood, having been pistol-whipped. His mother was also struck in the head with a gun, according to the criminal complaint, the weapon firing when she was struck. Police found a bullet hole in the wall.
