Every year for the past 32 years UMOS has recognized Hispanics throughout the state for their personal and professional contributions to the communities where they live and work. This year, at the 33rdannual UMOS Hispanic Awards Banquet, Mayra Alaniz was recognized as the Hispanic Youth of the Year, Ruben Burgos as the Hispanic Man of the Year, Maria Castrejon Perez as the Hispanic Woman of the Year and Jimmy and Elena Castaneda as the Hispanic Family of the Year. The event took place at the Italian Community Center on October 12th. Governor Scott Walker made a special guest appearance to recognize the recipients and address the audience.
