SOMERS –- The Somers village and town boards approved tax levies that will each increase about 4.5 percent for next year and includes the addition of a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department deputy shift that would begin July 1.

The village’s levy will increase by $167,766 to $3,913,472 in 2018. It includes the village’s two tax incremental financing districts. The levy for the town will increase $19,764 to $458,367 next year. The town has no TIF district considerations.

Both levies were approved following sparsely attended public hearings.
