CIUDAD DE MÉXICO — De acuerdo a la Prensa Asociada, después de una inactividad de más de cuatro meses por la pandemia de coronavirus, el fútbol mexicano regresará a las canchas a fines de julio. El presidente de la Liga MX, Enrique Bonilla, anunció el miércoles que el próximo torneo Apertura arrancará el 24 de julio y terminará el 12 de diciembre. La final sólo cambiaría de fecha en caso de que un equipo mexicano se clasifica al Mundial de Clubes y alcance la final. Eso es algo incierto porque la Liga de Campeones de la CONCACAF detuvo su actividad por la pandemia cuando estaban por disputarse las semifinales y aún no hay una fecha para su reanudación, aunque Bonilla dijo que sí se van a realizar. Además, Bonilla confirmó que la suspendida final por la Copa MX entre Tijuana y Monterrey se jugará con partidos de ida y vuelta el 16 y 23 de septiembre. Además del regreso a las canchas, Bonilla informó que desde el Apertura 2020 se incluirá un repechaje que aumentará el número de equipos clasificados a la postemporada, de ocho a 12.
