Bronzeville Week, The City of Milwaukee’s annual celebration of African-American culture, history, art, commerce, and entertainment, will move forward in 2020 but feature changes aimed at supporting public health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. The city sanction event hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs is entering its 8th year and is set to take place August 1-8, 2020.
“Given the uncertainty around what the climate will look like come August we recognize that Bronzeville Week this year cannot look like it has in the past, but the intent is to move forward with a new look version that highlights the rich content we have to offer,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “Now more than ever people need something to look forward to, and we plan to work with the creative community to curate different types of programming that keep residents safe and healthy while enjoying this cultural experience.”
Bronzeville Week will look to feature a variety of virtual events that highlight African-American history, culture and more. As the celebration approaches more details and a full schedule of events will be released.
