MILWAUKEE – One of the most notorious sex offenders in the state is about to be set free after years of being confined.

However, residents in the area are directing their anger at a house on their block where two sex offenders have lived supervised by the state for the past year.

Shawn Schulpius, who is currently living in a southside neighborhood under a state supervised release program, is going to be placed unsupervised release, along with another offender who lives with him, causing a stir among their neighbors, most of whom are expressing anger, but their anger and fears isn’t forcing the state to change its plans.

“We would like to know what their schedule is, if they’re going to be allowed to walk around the neighborhood 5 times in a day,” says Lisa Breitarch during a televised interview with WTMJ 4 News.

Next month the state plans to make Schulpius and his roommate, Edwin West eligible for the next level of their freedom, including occasional unsupervised trips outside.

“This has already happened to you and your community and your property values and your safety are already taken from you,” explains Rob Reynolds, a neighbor. “And now you get to vent and nothing ever changes.”

“I hope we provided as many answers to the community that we could,” says Jason Cram, from the Department of Health Services to WTMJ 4 News.
