Milwaukee police arrested a man in connection with a homicide of a south side victim who was targeted for his tax refund.
Doneal Bell, 21, was charged with felony murder in the fatal shooting of Mario D. Towns, 23, on the 1600 block of S. 3rd St., according to a criminal complaint.
According a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report, “Bell and a man identified only as ‘Tone’ forced their way into a residence, where they held Towns and the occupants at gunpoint and demanded money and marijuana.”
During the home invasion the men were aware that Towns had recently received his tax refund and purchased a large amount of marijuana with the money he received.
Towns attempted to escape from the residence but was chased down and shot in the back of the head by Bell’s accomplice the Journal Sentinel reports.
Towns was pronounced dead at the scene. $3,640 was found in his pants pocket, according to the complaint.
Bell is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000.
Bell faces 55 years in prison for his part in the homicide.
