SOMERS — Village officials plan to ask Kenosha County to ban semitrailers from using compression brakes on all roads in the village of Somers.
Somers approved an advisory resolution Tuesday that asks the County Board to adopt an ordinance prohibiting the use of that type of braking system, also referred to as “Jake brakes.”
“I hope the County Board adopts it,” trustee Joe Cardinali said. “With the expected increase in semi traffic on our roads, we are trying to be proactive. It is a loud, nuisance noise.”
