Today, Quartz announced the launch of two new health insurance products aimed at meeting the needs of populations needing extra support in service areas across Wisconsin.
The new products, a Medicare Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (DSNP) and supplemental security income Medicaid product (SSI), launched this month in Dane, La Crosse, and Milwaukee Counties. Quartz also announced the expansion of its BadgerCare Plus service area to four additional counties in January 2023.
“Quartz believes that everyone in our communities deserves access to quality care that supports their well-being,” said Dr. Mark Selna, president and CEO, Quartz. “We’re excited to be expanding our product offerings to reach some of the most vulnerable residents of our communities and building towards a future where well-living is always within reach for all our neighbors.”
The new DSNP product, the Quartz Dual Eligible plan, is available for eligible members who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Eligibility is based on Medicaid category and verified by the plan prior to enrollment. The plans will allow members to retain Medicaid coverage while gaining additional benefits like dental coverage and a quarterly over-the-counter allowance at no additional cost. Quartz Dual Eligible plans will offer a zero-dollar premium and no cost-share. Members will also have access to Quartz Champion, a personalized, hands-on concierge service. Once a person becomes a member, a Health Risk Assessment is completed so Quartz can proactively help manage their care.
“The residents eligible for these programs face some of the greatest barriers to positive health outcomes in our service area,” Selna said. “Many of those within this population are likely to be struggling with homelessness, poverty, mental illness or a substance use disorder. Many may have disabilities. We hope these new products can help make high-quality health care a reality for these populations that need it most.”
In addition to its BadgerCare Plus plan for Medicaid coverage, Quartz now offers a Medicaid SSI plan. The new plan is for those eligible who are 65 or older or children and adults who are blind or disabled and receive supplemental security income. Individuals can check their BadgerCare Plus and/or Medicaid SSI eligibility by applying at Access.wi.gov.
In addition to the new plan offerings, Quartz has expanded the footprint of its BadgerCare Plus plan to reach more eligible Wisconsin residents. Effective Jan. 1, Quartz BadgerCare Plus now includes Chippewa, Eau Claire, Walworth, and Wood counties. With this expansion, Quartz is certified to cover BadgerCare Plus members in 26 Wisconsin counties. In 2022, Quartz served approximately 50,000 members through the BadgerCare Plus program.
