A Franklin man working as a nurse at Ellsworth Correctional Center in Union Grove is facing a series of felony charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted an inmate.

Jeremy Deppisch, 47, is charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault by correctional staff, one count of misconduct in public office, misdemeanor theft and falsifying a prescription.

According to the criminal complaint, filed in Racine County, Deppisch is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with an inmate at Ellsworth, a minimum security women’s prison. The complaint alleges he had a sex with an inmate in a treatment room at the health service unit of the prison on two occasions while he was at work and that Deppisch falsified a prescription for antibiotics for the inmate so she could have a reason to be called to the health center.

Tristan Cook, a spokesman for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, said Deppisch was hired in March 2017 and his employment ended in February. The investigation into his conduct with the inmate had begun in January, according to the criminal complaint.
