A 21-year-old Kenosha man convicted of sexually assaulting a cognitively disabled elderly woman will spend 30 years in prison.

Vonell Shaw was convicted in March of impersonating a police officer to gain entry to the 66-year-old woman’s apartment, convincing her to give him the PIN for her debit card, then sexually assaulting her before leaving with the card and using it to steal money from her bank account.

He was convicted of impersonating a police officer, burglary, third-degree sexual assault, aggravated battery of an elderly person, theft, misappropriating an ID to obtain money and bail jumping.

His sentencing was delayed because he allegedly threatened his defense attorney after his conviction, leading the attorney to withdraw and a new counsel to be appointed.
