A dispute between two students Tuesday at Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wis., ended with one stabbing and seriously injuring the other and the victim being taken by Flight for Life from the school to a hospital.

Dispatchers received a call around 8:25 a.m. about a stabbing at the high school, 3700 Washington Road, said Lt. Tim Schaal, of the Kenosha Police Department. One juvenile had stabbed another, he said, and a school-resource officer was able to intervene and take the one juvenile into custody.

The other student suffered life-threatening injuries, Schaal said.

The school was on a soft lockdown following the incident, but the suspect was in custody, and there was no threat to the other students or community, Schaal said. He added that the weapon used in the stabbing was recovered.

Schaal said the detectives were still investigating the incident Tuesday afternoon, and no further information was being released.

“Due to the active crime scene at Bradford High School and our concern for our students’ well-being, we initiated an early dismissal at 10:30 a.m. for Bradford students and have canceled all Bradford after-school activities,” said Tanya Ruder, chief communications officer for the school district.

“School will be in session (Wednesday), and additional counselors will be on hand,” Ruder added. “The district wants our students, staff and community to know that the alleged suspect and weapon are in police custody and there is no imminent threat to others.
