MADISON, WI – Wisconsin Republicans dismissed Assembly Majority Leader Bill Kramer from his leadership post unanimously this week.
Republicans voted in a secret ballot after discussing the matter behind closed doors for an hour and a half.
Kramer checked into a treatment facility last Saturday, amid reports that he groped a female staffer following a GOP fundraiser in Washington last Wednesday. The Waukesha lawmaker was also accused of making lewd remarks to a female lobbyist on a plane ride home the next day.
Medford, Wisconsin Republican Mary Williams made the motion to remove Kramer as the majority leader. She said he has lost the trust and confidence of Assembly Republicans.
There have also been calls for Kramer to resign from his Assembly seat.
Assembly Republicans have elected West Bend Representative Pat Strachota as their majority leaders in the assembly.
