MILWAUKEE  — Although the USA does not have a team in this year’s World Cup, plenty of people in southeast Wisconsin will be watching when the competition starts Thursday.

This year, the games are being played in Russia but in 2026, North America will be hosting the World Cup for the first time in more than 20 years.

With the time difference in Russia, the games will be airing in the U.S in the mornings and early afternoons.

In 2014, the World Cup drew thousands of fans to Milwaukee viewing parties but some are worried the crowds might be less this year with the early games. Plus, the U.S. team not making it this year.
