On January 18th, 2020, the UFC is starting the year with a bang for all MMA fans. The main event will be against Conor Mcgregor versus Donald Cerrone in a welterweight fight. Conor McGregor anticipated return is almost here as he comes back from a two-year layoff. This fight will be in the welterweight division which Conor has only fought in this weight class once and lost. Many wonders why Conor will make his return in the welterweight division instead of the lightweight division where he was already a champion. Conor is here to show us all that he can fight and win at any weight division. He looks to get a win over Donald Cerrone and hopefully be in the talk for title contention. This card has many big names like Holly Holms who will face Raquelle Pennington. This fight was supposed to happen on UFC 243 but Holms had to withdraw due to hamstring injury. There will be a few Milwaukee fighters representing in this card. Anthony “Showtime” Pettis will face off against Carlos Diego Ferreira in the lightweight division. This will be the co-main event of the fight card. If you have not seen Anthony fight, you are missing out. His goal is to always put on his show for his fans and his fighting style is unique. He has an acrobatic style that many of his opponents do not know how to approach it and end up getting knocked out. Pettis looks to get back to his winning ways and earn his lightweight title back. Anthony Pettis’s last fight was back on UFC 241 in which suffered a broken foot and lost against Nate Diaz. Anthony Pettis trains at Roufusport MMA Academy which is known to be one of the best MMA gyms in the country with one of the elite coaches in Duke Rufous. Another Milwaukee fighter who also trains with Anothy Pettis at Roufusport is Maycee “The Future” Barber. She fights in the womens flyweight division and she is unstoppable. Maycee is currently 7-0 winning four by knockout and two by submission. With a win at UFC 246, Maycee may get the opportunity to fight for the strawweight championship in the future. The last fighter from Milwaukee is Ode Osbourne who will make his UFC debut in the bantamweight division against Brain Kelleher. He trains at Pura Vida BJJ and will finally demonstrate his skills on fight night. Ode was given a UFC contract after winning his match on Dana White Contender Series back in July. UFC 246 will be available on ESPN Plus for $59.99. This is an event that you will not want to miss. Make sure to also support the Milwaukee fighters that will fight on January 18th.
