The wait is over, Conor McGregor has announced his return to the UFC. Conor has been away from the UFC since losing his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on October 6th, 2018. He lost his lightweight belt after being submitted by Khabib in the fourth round. Hell broke loose as Khabib’s team jumped over into the cage and attacked Conor. This resulted in a fine and suspension for Khabib. Recently, Conor has been focusing on his whiskey business, Proper No. Twelve since he launched it last year. His business has been doing so well that many of his fans believed that he never needs to fight again because of all the money that he is making. He also has been dealing with a lot of legal issues that may have set his return back even later. Many have wondered if Conor would ever step foot into the octagon again and after a year, we finally got the answer during a press conference in Moscow. Conor mentioned his return is set to be on January 18th, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are still unsure of his opponent for this fight but two fighters are in talks to fight Conor. Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje are the two fighters that fans speculate to be fighting Conor in his return match. Conor McGregor hopes to give his fans the match up that they want which is his rematch against Khabib in Moscow, however, he would be fighting in enemy territory. He also showed interest in fighting either Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz, depending on who wins their fight which occurred on November 2nd. Conor has fought Nate Diaz twice and many fans are hoping for a third, or “trilogy” fight. They both have a win against each other, so having a trilogy fight would be the tiebreaker and determine the better fighter. Conor has also stepped out of the octagon and made his boxing debut against Floyd “Money” Mayweather. He lost that fight but this was one of the most anticipated fights in the world. Many tuned in to watch if Conor could dethrone the unbeaten Mayweather and see how he would hold up. Conor is known for his way of speaking and getting the attention of the audience which is why he gets many people to tune in and purchase his fights. The style of fighting and the way is has promoted himself are now being used by many fighters in hopes that they can captivate an audience the way Conor McGregor does. His opponent for his January return is still unsure but fans across the world are set to watch his fight. The wait, the anticipation is almost over; The King will be returning home soon.
