KENOSHA – U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan’s spokesman said that despite the Speaker not hosting a town hall event in Kenosha County this year, things could change.

Ryan represents Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, which includes Kenosha County.

“We will continue to do these popular events, including in Kenosha County, but I do not have a date to share at this time,” said spokesman Ian Martorana in a statement to the Kenosha News.

Last month, Ryan held a telephone town hall event for Rock and Walworth County residents.

After the event, Martorana said Ryan reached thousands of people.

Ryan’s most recent in-person, in-district listening session in Kenosha was in April 2015.

In recent months, Congressional Republicans across the nation have faced backlash when returning to their respective districts for town hall events.
