Milwaukee – Milwaukee Brewer Gold Glove winner Carlos Gomez partnered with the League of United Latin American Citizen (LULAC, Council 333) to create the “Carlos Gomez Hispanic Scholarship Fund” to help Wisconsin Hispanic students pursue a college degree.
Gomez will be presenting six Hispanic students with the first Carlos Gomez Scholarship of $1,000 dollars each to help the selected Hispanic students pursue their college dreams. Carlos Gomez contribution will be matched by the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation.
In addition, several Milwaukee Brewers have donated autographed memorabilia including Francisco Rodriquez, Martin Maldonado, Matt Garza, Kyle Lohse, Willy Peralta, Aramis Ramirez, Ryan Braun, Khris Davis, and Yovani Gallardo and the Brewers Opening Day ball signed by all Brewer players.
The items will be available for auction or raffled at on at the first LULAC Council 333 “Carlos Gomez Hispanic Scholarship Fund” fundraising event on Saturday May 31, 2014 from 7pm -9:00 pm at the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation 2997 S. 20th Street Milwaukee
Martin Maldonado, Willy Peralta, and Jean Segura are scheduled to attend the event.
“It is not everyday that an athlete the caliber of Carlos Gomez steps to the plate to work with a Wisconsin local LULAC council to help raise funds to promote our Hispanic youth to pursue a college degree.” said Fela Salinas president of LULAC Council 333.
