Franklin, WI: Forward Latino, a national non-profit, non-partisan advocacy and service organization with members in 29 states congratulates President Biden and the U.S. Senate for coming together and passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in the United States Senate.  Forward Latino National President Darryl Morin issued the following statement: “For too long there have been those who have stoked the flames of division to their sole benefit. Today’s passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act demonstrates democracy does work and does so to the benefit of the American people.  This bill when passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and signed into law by President Biden will represent a once-in-a-generation investment in our country and our communities of color. It will begin the process of addressing the decades of disparity in investment and opportunity.

This bill will set us on a path that will ensure all, regardless of color, will have an equal opportunity to achieve the American Dream.  The bill makes a $65 billion investment in high-speed internet access. This will ensure that children of color will have access to the resources needed so they too can complete their homework, go online to gain technical training, or apply to college or a job. The bill also provides much overdue funding so that lead pipes in approximately 10 million homes and 400,000 schools and childcare facilities can be replaced, allowing our children to drink water without putting themselves at risk of the life-altering effects and dangers of lead poisoning.

The bill will also make historic investment in transportation. These investments will reduce commute times and increase economic opportunity for our nation’s Hispanic community, as it will provide cost effective and eco-friendly transportation, maximizing productivity, health, and quality of life for all.  This bill does all of this and so much more. For these reasons, Forward Latino encourages swift passage of this bill in the U.S. House of Representatives.”  About Forward Latino:  Forward Latino is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy
