Joshua Braithwaite admitted he had sex with the woman he is accused of raping and killing, but said it was consensual, and that he never saw her after their middle-of-the-night encounter.
Braithwaite is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault and kidnapping in the July 9, 2012, death of Lashe Zalar. Zalar’s burned body was found in Nedweski Park that morning, when firefighters put out a brush fire.
