Ayer celebramos Reyes Magos y I just want to take a moment to reflect and give thanks……
As of yesterday, en solo 6 meses, we have been blessed to serve over 1,000 children ….con zapatos, coats, hats, gloves, toys, dinners, gift cards, y días llenos de alegría, risas y comunidad.
Y lo voy a decir otra vez, loud and clear:
Esto no se trata de religión, holidays, ni fechas comerciales.
Esto se trata de changing the community together.
This post is about appreciation.
Para los volunteers que sacan tiempo de sus vidas ….no son muchos, pero los que están, siempre están. Gracias por su consistency y su corazón.
Para las personas que llegan a nuestros eventos ….some come because they truly need help, some come to support community growth, some come to enjoy the experience… y yes, some come just to take advantage of what’s free.
I want to remind everyone…. everything we do comes from the heart.
We don’t sell tickets.
We don’t sell food.
We don’t sell vendor spots.
We are not here to make money or personal gain.
We do this to create hope, inspiración y motivación for our youth.
So when people show up feeling entitled, upset, or angry because they missed out, or because we ran out of food or gifts …..please remember this:
WE are individuals who wake up every day, work long hours, sacrifice time with OUR own families, and still choose to invest back into the community because WE care.
We are not a nonprofit.
We are not a large corporation with endless funds.
We are not profiting from this.
On the flip side, we take our hard-earned money and put it right back into the hands of our children ….porque creemos en ellos y en el futuro.
Thank you to everyone who shows up with respect, love, and understanding. This is bigger than an event. This is a movement.
