Kenosha – Thousands of homes and businesses went without power across Kenosha County this week.
We Energies described the outage as “very large,” according to a spokesperson. The cause has not yet been determined as of press time.
More than 19,000 were without power.
American Transmission Company is facing a transmission outage, according to We Energies spokeswoman Amy Jahns, adding that We Energies is assisting to restore power “as quickly as possible.”
The police and sheriff’s departments are monitoring major intersections, and the Public Safety Building is on auxiliary power.
The first outages were reported around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Many citizens took to social media to express their frustration. The area is facing a wind chill advisory, and many are concerned about heating their homes.
