Sheriff’s Offices – On Sunday, February 17, at approximately 9:21 a.m., a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office squad was blocking southbound Lane 2 of Interstate 43 at Port Washington Road, guarding a crash scene. Deputy Sheriffs were seated in the driver’s seat and front passenger seat, and a civilian was seated in the rear passenger seat when a vehicle traveling southbound struck the squad. The Deputy Sheriff seated in the squad’s front passenger seat sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Milwaukee County Regional Medical Center and released. The Deputy Sheriff seated in the driver’s seat also sustained non-life threatening injuries but did not require treatment. The civilian in the rear passenger seat was not injured. The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate the crash involving MCSO Deputies. The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Deputy investigating the crash issued the driver of the striking vehicle a citation for driving too fast for conditions. This is the fourth crash involving a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office squad or Deputy in the past 23 days. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office encourages all motorists to drive at speeds appropriate to road conditions, and to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles.
