Opponents of Bear Development’s proposal to build mixed income, downtown rental housing on the former Wells Co. industrial site at 5821 Fifth Ave. met tonight and vowed to take their fight to City Hall. While there was disagreement on specific tactics, all agreed their strategy needs to focus on keeping the five-story, 60-unit building — with 40 of those apartments to be rented at reduced “workforce” rates — out of downtown.
Mayor Keith Bosman and district Alderwoman Chris Schwartz have publicly stated their support for the proposal.
