Free Tuition for Low Income Students at MATC
Milwaukee Milwaukee Area Technical College announced that starting next fall academically qualified high school seniors can attend tuition-free.
The MATC Promise, as is known, is for families who otherwise could not afford to attend MATC.
MATC hopes to increase the enrollment of new high school graduates.
MATC will work closely with high schools in its service area to make sure eligible students know about the MATC Promise, officials at MATC said.
The estimated tuition and fees per semester for a full-time student taking the minimum 12 credits toward an Associate’s Degree or technical diploma is $1,730.
A student enrolled in a four-year college transfer program would pay $2,275 per semester for the minimum 12 credits to be considered full-time.
The MATC Promise won’t cover all costs. Students will still have to pay for books, transportation and living expenses.
