SOMERS — Plans to control stormwater runoff from the Foxconn development in Mount Pleasant should include retention ponds and fix existing flooding problems in Somers, village president George Stoner said.

“I don’t agree with what is going on up there, totally,” Stoner said at this week’s work session with regard to how stormwater from Foxconn is proposed to be handled.

Stoner said areas of Somers near the Racine County border flood every time it rains. He believes large retention ponds on the Foxconn site should be used to correct the existing problems in Somers resulting from stormwater coming from the north.

“Now is the time to fix it,” Stoner said. “They can build ponds that would retain the water. The flow being the same is a problem. They could stop that.”
