MILWAUKEE – Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago has relocated several job resource services and community-based support programs to its new location at the historical Summit Place building located at 6737 W. Washington St. in West Allis, Wisconsin.
The centralized location within Milwaukee County provides easy access for area residents, businesses and community partners to several of Goodwill’s programs and departments that were based at the nonprofit’s former campus in Greendale, Wisconsin.
Goodwill Mission Programs Offered At Summit Place
Goodwill’s community-based support programs work with employers and individuals to provide training, job placement and supportive services to help people with disabilities lead more independent lives.
Operating out of West Allis for the first time is Goodwill TalentBridge, a full-service staffing and recruiting firm that works with local employers and community partners to help meet critical workforce needs. The firm provides talent acquisition solutions, contingent and direct placement services, and recruitment process outsourcing solutions across a variety of roles and industries.
“Goodwill has tremendous opportunity to advance our mission out of Summit Place in the heart of West Allis,” said Clayton Pryor, chief mission officer of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago. “Through a more localized approach, we are helping job seekers develop career readiness skills and connect with employers in the community.”
Summit Place is near a variety of public transportation options so the people who need Goodwill’s programs and services can more easily access them. Free parking, a café, and other great amenities are also available for use.
“Adding Goodwill’s job resource services and community-based support programs to Summit Place increases access and reaches more people experiencing barriers to work,” said Pryor. “Summit Place is also home to many community-based service organizations that we look forward to building relationships with and discovering ways to meet community needs together.”
Deepening Local Impact
The relocation of some of Goodwill’s programs and services is part of the nonprofit’s focus to be more deeply embedded in the communities it serves. These efforts began in May of 2021 when Goodwill moved its corporate headquarters from Greendale to the James O. Wright Center for Work & Training on Milwaukee’s northwest side. Goodwill provides training, employment and supportive services across 23 counties within southeastern Wisconsin and metropolitan Chicago.
“Offering several Goodwill programs and services out of West Allis reaffirms our commitment to deepening our local impact and strengthens our dedication to the individuals we serve on the south side of Milwaukee County and surrounding communities,” said Jackie Hallberg, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago.
“Meeting people where they are is essential to providing the highest level of support so we can equip them with the skills to positively transform their lives and successfully integrate into the workforce of today and the future,” said Hallberg.
In 2021, Goodwill served over 9,000 Milwaukee County residents through its programs, and in total, the organization’s work led to over 42,000 people receiving support and 4,105 job placements across its territory.
