WASTE REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (100%)

SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE EDUCATION CENTER (SHWEC) GREEN BAY

The Waste Reduction and Management Specialist is responsible for providing environmental information, education and technical assistance for UW-Cooperative Extension clients and audiences which include business and industry, communities, organizations and individuals. The Specialist collaborates with and supports the work of Solid and Hazardous Waste Education Center (SHWEC) specialists as they extend the programs of the Center throughout the state. The Specialist focuses on the primary audience of business and industry with the goal of improving the rate of recycling and reuse of solid waste; elimination or reduction of toxic or hazardous wastes; reduction of air pollutants; reduction of wastewater and storm water run-off or other forms of pollutants that may affect water, air, land quality or public health in Wisconsin. Up to 20% of the Specialist’s time will be spent in activities associated with collaborative research and planning with faculty and staff of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Environmental Management and Business Institute.

The 4-H Youth Development Educator is an educational leader in teaching, accessing and applying research findings in the social, human and behavioral sciences.  The 4-H Youth Development Educator takes a scholarly approach in organizing community resources in support of the inclusive positive development of youth, especially in the areas of leadership and civic engagement.

4-H Youth Development programming in Wisconsin has a dual focus.  It provides inclusive educational programs for youth through 4-H community clubs.  While local 4-H community clubs are Extension’s fundamental model for youth programming, other models of direct youth development programing are also available.  The second area of focus for 4-H Youth Development personnel is in the area of youth development leadership for communities.
